From Runway To Salon: Paypal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2026

Fashion week energy is alive at Sloans! Our talented team has just returned from backstage at PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2026, where they created some of the stunning looks that defined one of Australia’s most prestigious runway fashion events. Working behind the scenes at these shows is essential to how we bring cutting-edge trends and style cut techniques to our clients at the best salon Sydney has to offer.

For this show we were responsible for two separate looks, both highlighting the flexibility of the classic ponytail.

The first look was two sleek low ponys but with a little twist- literally! Each pony had a section of hair twisted across the base to create an additional shape and add interest. It gave it a sculptural feel that felt sexy.

The second look was a super fun, sleek and very modern ponytail with a snatched middle part. Key here was shine and not a single hair out of place.

The first look was a really organic and undone feel focused on lived in soft movement, not a glam wave or polished look. Think cool girl feel with a don’t care attitude and confidence. We also incorporated on-trend micro fringes, adding them to the models hair.

The second look was much more avant-garde with two ponytails high at the back of the head, then artistically wrapped with wool across the whole head and to connect the two.

There was also one more style with a super slick wet look complete with splashes of colour spray painted directly onto the hair which was so much fun to play with.
