May saw Australia’s fashion and beauty royalty hunker down in Sydney for the event of the year- Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. Here at Sloans, your Sydney hairdressers have broken down our 3 fave hair trends from the fashion week that was.
CURLS CURLS CURLS:
Curly hair girls rejoice! Never have we seen the curl embraced so readily at a fashion week. We aren’t just talking hours in the hot rollers and blood sweat and tears with the curling tong, the looks were all about embracing natural texture and enhancing the true curl. Whether soft and romantic for those with just a subtle natural wave or all out corkscrews for the true curly girl, we loved so much variation in the looks and the feeling of celebration.

FACE FRAMING FLATTERY
Was the Duchess taking inspiration from MBFWA? After the strands seen round the world changed our view of stiff royal hair forever, these flattering face framers were also spotted on several looks during the week. The perfect balance to a more refined and structured updo or lowdo, hair around the face instantly softens a look and adds interest. Keep in mind the strands need to be thick enough to make a statement and ideally feature at least a hint of a curl.

Glamourous nomads are nothing new to the runway, but season after season we are drawn into wanderlust when romantically undone hair is paired with elaborate fashion. The key to luxe traveller is lots of texture and detail but still keeping it glossy and sleek. Whether an intricate fishtail braid woven with fine gold thread or beachy tousled waves cascading down shoulders, the look is playful and enigmatic.
