18 Oct THE SLOANS SPRING/SUMMER 19 EDIT
Fashion month has finally come to a close, and after following every catwalk across New York, London, Milan and Paris, quite frankly we are exhausted! So many looks, so many models and so much hair. Your favourite Lane Cove and North Sydney hair salons are no strangers to fashion weeks, having worked backstage at more than we can name, but we still get a buzz seeing what the most loved luxury brands get up to overseas. Here at Sloans, our award winning Sydney hairdressers, choose the top 3 most wearable looks that we are excited to create at the best salons near you.
It’s probably the most iconic of all fashion shows worldwide- Chanel in Paris. It’s always a fashion fairytale, with Karl Lagerfeld completely transforming the Grand Palais every single show. SS19 was no different, with the team replicating a complete beach- sand, skyline and even actual waves lapping the shore. Guests were transported to the most glamourous seaside locale as they viewed his amazing collection. The hair look was perfectly described as ‘rich beach’- the ultimate posh girl waves featuring a half up, half down do. While beach hair is normally all sea salt spray and texture, this look was much softer and more luxurious, with the subtle curls looking relaxed and glossy. We loved the addition of the signature black Chanel ribbon and gold ‘Double C’ clips featuring pearls.
This show featured a star-studded model line-up including Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls, Gigi Hadid and Irina Shayk, which almost overshadowed the hair and clothes, but thankfully, not quite. Braids are synonymous with runway styles due to their versatility, so how do you consistently recreate them and give them a new edge? Embellishment. The looks here were created using a deceptively simple slicked back look- parted down the centre and pulled back at the nape of the neck, but were given a special touch thanks to the addition of thick leather cord. Each cord was colour coordinated to complement the models’ hair in shades of canary, camel and pewter and coiled to look like rope. Models were given hair extensions if required to ensure uniform length and the correct braid thickness and ends were left out and textured slightly to offset the sleekness of the look.
When it comes to sexy and feminine hair, D&G never disappoint. This runway was a kaleidoscope of colours and textures with the incredibly diverse mix of models featuring different hair looks. It’s so refreshing to see a catwalk where women of all sizes and ages are celebrated for their individuality. We loved the sea of tumbling curls and loose top knots, but we especially loved the explosion of florals throughout. Vibrant flower crowns were featured among actual crowns while stray roses were littered throughout. All of the look were soft and romantic and infinitely wearable, leaving us wanting to merge Sloans with a florist!
