07 Jun THE SLOANS MET GALA TREND REPORT
Not only is the Met Gala the most fun carpet of the year to pore over pics of – the fashion, the celebs, the make-up, it’s also the perfect hunting ground for hair trends. Think the most outlandish variations of what we can expect to see in the salon for the rest of 2019 and beyond, just with a little bit of everyday toning down. Our award-winning salons and their teams of the best hairdressers in Sydney are experts when it comes to delivering a trends focused approach to your next cut, colour and style. Whether you visit the best North Sydney salon or the best Lane Cove salon, Sloans has you covered with this wrap up.
TREND 1: DREAMY COLOUR
Pastels aren’t going anywhere. Impossibly feminine, they are just so flattering and surprisingly wearable for most people. Rather than a big dramatic change, adding a subtle pastel hue to your locks is the perfect way to mix it up and feel a little more adventurous. Pinks and lavenders are the perfect place to start.
Lucy Boynton
Kylie Jenner
Regina Hall
TREND 2: HIGH PONYTAILS
It transcends trend and the high ponytail just keeps on giving! To be most appropriate for the theme, these were exaggerated and full of bouncing, over the top volume and curl or extravagant embellishment. Ideal for swishing over the shoulder, length was also key.
Gwen Stefani
Elle Fanning
Ashley Graham
TREND 3: HOMAGE TO THE AFRO
While not so much a trend as a tribute to the culture of black hair, there were several towering afros which were able to steal the show. Loud and proud, they were a true celebration.
Ciara
Lupita
TREND 4: EXTRAVAGENT HEADPIECES
We have been seeing accessories sneak more and more back into the mainstream after some stunning showings on the catwalks recently. Here this was taken to the extreme with pieces that make more than just a bit if a statement!
Emily Ratajkowski
Jennifer Lopez
