CALLING ALL MUMS-TO-BE

CALLING ALL MUMS-TO-BE

Pregnancy. It’s a beautiful thing. Glowing skin. Thicker hair. Gently expanding belly. The joy of life. Right? Except for when it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! For some women pregnancy is the most magical time of their lives, but for others, it takes a little extra help behind the scenes to feel your best. Here at our award-winning Sloans Lane Cove hair salon and Sloans North Sydney hair salon, we are experts in managing not only cuts and colours, but also your overall pregnancy hair health as we believe you can’t have style without substance.

There are several things you can do to make sure you look after your hair during pregnancy so here are a few handy tips;

Hormone changes can play havoc with your follicles. Some women will experience hair growth like they have never seen before- big bouncing volume and amazing shine. Lucky ladies! But for others hair can become lank and oily and in some cases start thinning. To help prevent and deal with the latter, come and see our Sydney hairdressers at Sloans for a personalised hair treatment plan which may involve a switch up in shampoo, conditioner and at home hair treatments.

Regular trims are highly recommended as hair during pregnancy can experience more dryness during pregnancy making split and broken ends much more prevalent. Also try to minimise brushing hair when wet and overuse of heat stylers as these can both encourage damage and hair loss.

When colouring your hair, be sure to let us know you are pregnant so we can use the right products. It’s smart to be concerned about increased sensitivity and so in most cases we recommend L’Oreal Professionnel INOA colour which is ammonia free. If you are still feeling cautious consider opting for highlights or balayage instead.

Try to book in an appointment just before your due date so we can make sure your hair is prepped and ready for the first few months. A fresh cut and colour can make a world of difference in those sleep deprived times! We can also tailor your cut to a finish which requires minimal styling and suits your lifestyle.

Post partum hair loss and thinning is also very common so be gentle with your hair and keep up your treatments. Supplements can also help before, during and after pregnancy for hair skin and overall health. Make sure you check with your GP or health professional to see what they recommend for you.

Whether you are prepping for life as a mum-to-be or not, call us on T. 94204880 to book in your next appointment with our Lane Cove hairdressers or T. 99550077 for our North Sydney hairdressers.
