GET THE LOOK: JLO AT THE MET GALA

We are still obsessing over the inspiration for all the latest styling looks that came out of the Met Gala and we are dedicated to recreating your favourite styles into Sloans salon worthy creations. Here, the best hairdressers Lane Cove and North Sydney break down one of the most popular styles of the night- JLo and her elevated messy bun.

Forget the messy bun you throw your hair up into when you get home from work, this is a way to add sophistication and fun to a fancy event. The beauty of a high bun is that it can lift your entire face and draw the eye up which makes it amazing for women of all ages.

Working with our favourite products from the team at L’Oréal Professonnel, we have broken down how you can get a perfect Sloans worthy style- either at home or in the salon with us.

Step 1: Prep hair with a shampoo and conditioner to suit your hair type and then. on wet hair, apply Tecni.ART Volume Lift Root Mousse, to roots.

Step 2: Begin rough drying with a hairdryer and dry until just damp.

Step 3: Take small sections and wrap your hair around a 1.25” curling wand or twist in a straightener to start to build up texture.

Step 4: Mix a dime-size of Techni.ART Liss Control Plus and Tecni.ART Fix Max Shaping Gel together in your hands. Use this mixture and gently run fingers throughout hair.

Step 5: Pull hair up into a high pony and secure tightly.

Step 6: Tease the ponytail with a comb or bush, working the hair back towards the base of the ponytail, focusing on maximising texture and you want to make hair look messy. The messier the better!

Step 7: Secure with a matching hair colour elastic at the top of your head and on the last wrap, pull the hair halfway through, creating a loop.

Step 8: Pin the loop above the crown with a large bobby pin and then secure any extra hair loosely into the bun.

Step 9: Spray Techni.ART Air Fix Hair Spray to complete the look and tame any last pieces into place.

Step 10: Head out and look amazing!!
