EMBELLISHMENT WINS AT MET GALA

EMBELLISHMENT WINS AT MET GALA

Well the red carpet we all wait for arrived and the Met Gala did not disappoint. It is the event where everyone turns it on and it’s a who’s who of the celebrity world. While most eyes are firmly on the outfits, the hair is also just as important! This year the award-winning team at Sloans scoured the looks to discover what trends and styles we will be delivering in the salon for the rest of the year and beyond.

And what was the big takeaway? The incredible embellishments! There is always going to be the most stand out jewels and head pieces here and we are not saying you need the world’s most elaborate headdress for your next big event but take inspiration from these gorgeous baubles to create your next look to stand out from the crowd.

KAIA GERBER

Met

Talk about disco perm! This incredible mess of curls almost stole the show but we can’t help but be drawn to those gorgeous barrettes. The pearl and diamond encrusted silver clips were so beautifully incorporated with their intricate vintage feel. An easy look to recreate, just bring in your favourite clips and we will work our magic.

VANESSA HUDGENS

Met

More artwork or sculpture than hair, this elaborate twisted bun was layer upon layer of beautiful braiding made extra special with a touch of bling. We love the ay her hairstylist has woven in small strips of diamonds to add a glittering pattern throughout.

EMMA CHAMBERLAIN

Met

The most perfect tiara for a princess! As host of the Vogue red carpet Emma nailed the subtlety of this look with this understated yet incredibly glam head piece. We love the way it has been set back on the head in Alice band position and the contrast of the very modern simple centre part bob. Perfect mix of old and new.

BLAKE LIVELY

Met

As Co-Chair of the night all eyes were well and truly on Blake as she made the most dramatic entrance courtesy of her magically unfolding dress transformation. Inspired by the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty her intricate tiara was full of meaning for the city she loves so much.

ALICIA KEYS

Met

Now we aren’t sure we will be called on to create this look, but what a statement! And who else could pull this off but the queen herself Alicia Keys. We love her homage to the importance of music throughout American history with her witty take on CD’s woven throughout her long braid.
