AN ODE TO KARL’S CHANEL

AN ODE TO KARL’S CHANEL

It still seems like only yesterday that we lost the fashion icon that was Karl Lagerfeld. It’s hard to think of anyone who has had such a monumental impact on style as that incredible visionary and it truly was the end of an era when he passed. As his last ever collection walked down the runway, led by muses including Cara Delevingne, Penelope Cruz and Kaia Gerber, we said goodbye to this inimitable fashion guru. Here, the teams at the best Lane Cove and North Sydney salons pay tribute to some of the most iconic looks that Karl provided us through his ground-breaking time with Chanel. Always creating the best cuts, best colours and best styles – these runway shows impacted hair all around the world.

CHANEL CRUISE 13

This look was Marie Antoniette gone punk with the most stunning confection coloured angular faux bobs. Lilac, peach, mint and pink dominated as the pastel shades added softness to the edginess. The model’s hair was pulled back into a low ponytail, further emphasised by elaborate chiffon bows and ribbons. Not for the faint hearted, Karl was clearly well ahead of the recent trend of metallic pastels that is still going strong!

CHANEL F/W 18/19

Only Karl can make a messy topknot the epitome of super chic and give the rest of us permission to unashamedly rock it out too! Pulled off the face, sleek around the face and voluminous up top, it’s the lack of flyaways and the perfectly polished locks that make this look stand out. Not to mention the little extra facelift that it provides.

CHANEL S/S 94

Ah Chanel in the 90’s! This look is the epitome of what it stood for at the time- fun and kitsch and bold! Bright candy colours, over the stop make-up and clashing coloured extensions. This is something you no longer see on the pared back, natural runways of today. It’s easy to forget that Chanel isn’t all about haute couture and elegance, Karl loved a party.

CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE S/S 19

One of Karl’s last haute couture shows, these David Bowie inspired bouffants were one of his boldest hair moves of all time. The hair is dramatically pulled up and away from the face with a distinct 19th century inspired twist care of the impressive pompadours. There is also a touch of the over the top 80’s in there, with the addition of floral embellishments to soften the finished look.

The Sloans team will miss your incredible best hair styles inspiring us in the salon. RIP Karl. You are so very missed.
